Energy Star Tax Incentive
Great news! Congress recently extended the Energy Efficiency Tax Incentive for metal roofs installed in 2012 or completed in 2013. The tax credit covers 10% of the cost of materials, up to a maximum of $500 per home.

For homeowners to receive the tax credit, you must complete the following steps:
  1. Confirm that the metal roof you selected is a pre-painted or coated ENERGY STAR® labeled metal roof with pigmented coating/paint film specifically designed to reduce heat gain, and obtain certification from your contractor or the manufacturer.
  2. Have the metal roof installed on their principal residence between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013, which meet ENERGY STAR® guidelines. For further information on the requirements for tax credit eligibility, homeowners should visit the Energy Tax Incentives
  3. When filing your taxes for 2012 and/or 2013, fill out IRS form 5695 Residential Energy Credits.
